Hill Barn is a sustainable self-build dwelling set within the distinctive rural landscape of the Cotswolds. The project takes a considered approach to contemporary countryside living, combining a strong architectural identity with a sensitive response to its setting.
Drawing inspiration from the agricultural character and simple forms of traditional rural buildings, the design adopts a restrained material palette and carefully composed elevations to create a home that feels both contemporary and rooted in its context. Generous openings establish a strong connection between the interior and surrounding landscape, bringing natural light deep into the house while framing views across the countryside.
Sustainability is central to the project, informing the building’s form, orientation and construction strategy. The result is a highly considered family home that balances environmental performance, functionality and architectural quality, offering a modern interpretation of rural living in the Cotswolds.
